How To Get What You Want From People!

Hey Guys!

I'm back again! I told you I would see you in two weeks and here I am! I'm loving the consistency!
Today is not a long post at all! I just wanted to share a life lesson with you that has really manifested for me over the past few months. I'm a person who doesn't gel well with rejection if I'm honest. I don't particularly like it nor do I take well to other people saying no to me and because of this, I've found myself just not asking.

And whilst this seems to be a sure fire way to avoid rejection, it also means that you miss out a lot on life and what it has to offer. So many times we are too scared to ask people for things when really all we had to do is ask and we would have received. The way to get what you want from people is to ASK! Trust me it seems very silly to point that out but we tend to assume the worst in people or sometimes underestimate ourselves and in the process miss out on so many things.

I'll use myself as an example, I have a YouTube channel which you can check out here! (I know shameless self promo) and I am not a big channel by any means, I'm a little way from 600 subscribers and I wanted to do both a summer lookbook and a tasting video (both of which I will link down below of course) but as I was a small channel I doubted that any company would want to send me anything when there were Youtubers with 100 0000s of subscribers but with encouragement from my friends, I thought why not and emailed two companies, telling them about my channel and what I would like to do and how I would like to work with them and to my surprise, both companies were willing to work with me. And they genuinely sounded excited to be a part of my channel and sent me items for free to feature.

I could not believe that these established companies would even want to work with a small time YouTube like me or how easy it would be but alas it was! All i had to do was ask and it happened.

So here I am challenging you guys to be more open and just ask for what you want. You would be surprised how many people are more open than you suppose.

I will see you guys in two weeks time! Lots and lots of love. And if you want to catch up with me in the interim, you can follow me on my social media.

Summer Outfits || Everything5pounds.com

Hey Guys!

Summer is upon us! (Although you wouldn't know it with the UK weather moodswings) and I thought I would share with you guys a few summer outfits ideas! I decided to incorporate Everything5pounds.com as they are an online retailer with amazing quality for only £5! Shoes, bags, clothes, accessories...you name it!
If you would like to see a visual lookbook of the clothes features here, you can check them out on my youtube channel here!

1. Ocassionwear- Black Lace Jumpsuit
This is my absolute favorite piece from Everything5pounds- it's a black jumpsuit with a lace overlay which are tucked in in these pictures but can be seen clearly in the Lookbook.

Not only is the quality of this piece superb but it hugs my body soooooo sooo perfectly and brings you in and makes you feel like you're wearing a bodice. I'll tell you now I felt all types of sophisticated and sexy in this jumpsuit.

It's certainly one of those outfits you need in your wardrobe for when you want to slay the hell out people. (Example 1- meeting your ex's new partner for the first time)

2. Barbecue- Print Maxi Skirt

This skirt is a popular one, the vibrant prints, the fun vibes! it's so easy to pair with other basics. You can also dress it up with heels or dress it down with sandals! It's so effortlessly chic and the best part is that its very stretchy so I got it in a size 8 even though I'm usually a size 10/12 and it still fits perfectly. The slit detail also adds that trendy in style.

3. Event - Neon Pink Laser Cutout Skirt

This skirt is so beautiful it's unreal! From the way it hugs you to the beautiful laser cut out on the hem, it's a perfect statement piece both to stand out at any event and that can be easily paired without looking like you're doing too much but you still tried. It's bodycon and literally just perfect. It is true to size and fits like a glove. The pictures don't do it enough justice but you can see the details better on the visual loobook.

4. Beach- Printed Culottes

I won't lie to you guys, I've not always been the biggest fan of culottes, I've even mocked them a couple times before. But when I saw these on the website, I thought why not give them a shot and I am IN LOVE  with these guys! Culottes are life, especially paired with great heels. They're so flattering yet stylish at the same time. I am officially a Culotte convert and just love how effortless they are to wear.

So those were the 4 items of clothing from Everything5pounds and I genuinely loved every single one of them. I chose statement pieces because I believe summer is about being vibrant and colorful and loud and I feel like all those things in these pieces! I hope you guys have a great summer and I will catch you in the next post. Lots and lots of love.

Modelling Scams! Beware!

Guess who's back??

Hey Guys, so yes it has been a while, and I know this post won't be relevant to all of you but if  you have any sisters, girlfriends, friends who are or trying to get into modelling, this may be useful for them.

Basically, I have been the victim of unlimited, uncountable instances of this trend. The thing is I'm just about 5,7 and I have the kind of body shape which although draws plenty attention in the club is not exactly what the modelling world would call perfect. Basically I'm not tall and slim, so I should have known becoming a model would not be easy but in my naive mind when they told me I was gorgeous and this and that, I let myself believe the lies and that is all they are...Lies!

There are now 'modelling agencies' everywhere who will post an ad on gumtree, the internet, or even have websites where you send in a picture of you and they call you telling you you're everything they want and they will get you plenty of jobs. Sounds great right? No, they tell you they have so many jobs lined up only for them to tell you  you just need a portfolio first. Magically they always have their own personal photographer that YOU have to use because they never trust anybody else. Long story short, you go for some crappy photo-shoot, you pay over money and you never hear from them again.

I have been subject to so many of these, I feel so ashamed to even tell you how much, having spent over £1200. All I ended up with was a bunch of pictures that each new 'agency' would say is not professional enough.

1. You never need to pay to join a reputable modelling agency. If you have to pay, think twice.

2. It is more likely that modelling agencies will discover you themselves, if you had to send your picture in to some dodgy website, think twice.

3. scope the environment when you go in...if it looks unprofessional and it's just 2 or 3 people in a warehouse office, think would a reputable agency capable of getting me loads of work have such a crap office.

4. Portfolio is not built in a day, all you need are some good natural head shots and poses to sell yourself. Portfolios are supposed to show your versatility, this wont be portrayed through just one shoot.

Basically just be careful, if someone is offering you something which seems to good to be true, chances are it is actually too good to be true.
There are so many of these scam agencies in London especially but also in Manchester, feel free to hit me up, I'll gladly give you their names.
Better to be rejected from a reputable company than swindled by these fortune hunting scammers.

I put in some of the pictures I ended up in various photoshoots, they were never good enough and I always had to take some new ones.

Boxing Day Sales- How I styled these heels!

Happy New Year Guys,

Sorry it's coming so late, Revision is getting the most of my attention lately but I couldn't resist making this post! So as per usual tradition and custom, me and my sister went out for the boxing day sales and initially I was quite disappointed, River Island, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, none of them had anything that attracted me. On my way home, I decided to branch into Matalan and I was pleasantly surprised. EVERYTHING was on sales! They had the most gorgeous things, shoes, dresses, everything for terribly cheap prices. My sister will testify that I was over the moon. I'm not afraid to say I definitely went crazy and probably embarrassed her a little.

Though I knew Matalan had great quality items, I usually associated them with older people, but this was not so. I got myself a lovely red dress, 3 pairs of shoes, some playsuits for me and my sister, something for the parents, some underwear, about 3 tops, all for under £70. But of all my purchases, these babies were my absolute favourite!

I saw them and fell in love! Just fell in love and had to wear them to church on the first Sunday of the year. This is how I styled them; I initially wanted to wear them with some leather pants and a white tee but I think they worked well with this dress as well. The best part about the shoes is they're only £7!!!!! Yes that's right! Plus they're quite comfortable for ankle strap heels so it's a win win.
Drop a comment and let me know what you think or how you would have styled them. And don't forget to follow and share!

Short hair on a Round face!

Hey Guys!

So you know the new year is always here so I was exploring and thinking of new ways to have my hair. The thing is I have a pretty round face (at least I think so) with a very wide smile so I've always stuck to the conventional hair past my shoulders, thick full hair kinda thing but just this week, I was in between hair styles and my mama suggested I try a pixie cut, I was like are you kidding? (I didn't actually say that to my African mum) My face is too round, I'd have to pout permanently to look decent but I tried it anyway and was pleasantly surprised. I got so much compliments and I think it really suits me. I'm thinking of making it my permanent hairstyle.

I guess it just goes to show that even if you're not completely sure on something or doubting if it'll work, give it a go and you never know, you may be pleasantly surprised like I was.

 Me with normal hair

too scared to smile incase it doesn't bang!
Which do you prefer? Do you think it suits my face? Or am I just decieving myself?

Breaking Bad habits!!

Hey guys!!

I am feeling amazing today! Why is this? Because this is the 5th day on which I am chocolate free. Don't think I'm exaggerating when I tell you I am addicted to chocolate, I actually am. I can eat this brown devil every single hour of every single day and still not get tired of it, I am in LOVE!! But I am no stranger to the dangers of stuffing my face and body with such a high dose of sugar so as part of my weight loss journey I decided I was going to try and give up chocolate for at least a week.

If I'm completely honest, I never thought I would get this far and I won't lie to you, on the second day I went in to Tesco's and bought a massive tube of Smarties and a family sized Cadbury bar but I summoned strength from somewhere and refrained from eating them but let me tell you now, it is most definitely not easy. So to commemorate this impressive milestone in my life (I'm 100% serious), I decided to do a 5 tips to breaking bad or maybe even good habits!

1. Have someone who is holding you accountable!!
I could not do this without my flatmate's support! Literally the only reason I didn't end up eating the Smarties bar is because she took them and hid them from me. Any time I get weak or start rolling on the floor begging for chocolate, she's there to slap some sense into my head. (Sometimes literally, and she doesn't hit lightly either.)

2. Find a replacement.
Constantly knowing you're missing something will only make it more likely for you to go back to that thing. If you have something else taking it's place, it'll take you longer to notice that there is actually something missing. And if the thing you're trying to give up is bad make sure you replace it with something healthy so you're not just swapping bad for bad. Eat a carrot!

3. Going cold turkey doesn't always work.
If you're body is so used to having something every single day, you telling it NO will not go down well and in some cases it won't go down at all. Trust me on this one. The craziness I've displayed for my house mates because of this chocolate business is enough to make them hate me. If you can't go cold turkey, why not try reducing the amount. you eat. If you have 5 a day, try 3 a day, then 1 a day till gradually none.

4. It's mind over body.
The addiction or bad habit is mainly in your head and thus is mainly about self control. If you're determined mentally to refrain from doing something, your body is more likely to follow your lead. Control your mind and you can control your body. Ultimately it's a matter of self control, try and exercise it!

3. Be easy on yourself!
Addiction is not the end of the world! Neither is a bad habit. Breaking it is a journey and it's okay to slip up along the way. If you are quitting cold turkey like me, it's okay if you slip up sometimes, what matters is that  you get yourself back up and start again! If you don't give in, great, but even if you do that shouldn't stop you from trying again.

Boots! Boots! Boots! Part 2!!

4. The UGGS
No Boot list would be complete without a traditional set of Uggs, it's like the potatoes of roast dinner (random analogy there but there you go), These are of course not real (Are you noticing a pattern here?) but they serve me well when I'm feeling SUPER casual that day or just running to the store. I got mine in a lovely navy colour and also have a stone one to match.

5. The ankle boots!
These are just a staple! I'm not gonna bore you with details but who doesn't need ankle boots huh? Great with jeans, skirts, maybe not dresses but you get the gist. This lovely pair was on sale from sports direct for only £13!!! I deffo love the Aztec print too though!

6.The fur wedge!
This one was mostly me being greedy but if you can't have fur during winter time, I don't know when you can. Wedge also makes it a little more versatile so sometimes if I'm feeling like beyonce and don't want to wear flats to uni, I can put on my wedge boots and feel special without people judging me for wearing heels.

7. Finally...The shoe boots!!! (aka Booties)
These are literally the best things I have ever invested in!! They literally just go with everything! Like seriously, Everything!! Jeans and a shirt, a nice body con dress, a midi skirt, an a line skirt, you name it, these shoes will work it! Even more amazing is that I got it on sale for a very REDUCED  price at boohoo, I am definitely in love!

So those are my 7 staple booties for the winter season. Feel free to comment below if you would like me to do a post on how I style each shoe otherwise feel free to follow the page!!

Boots! Boots! Boots!

Hey Guys!

So winter season is upon us and I thought what better way to get ready than to do a Boot Post! Most of my friends know I'm not really into Boots cause I always feel like they make me look short and stumpy (I'm not, I'm just short of 5,7) but in my head boots remove the 7 at the end so I generally stay away from them but this winter I looked at my cupboard and thought i actually have a decent amount of booties! So here I am showing you my 2014 boot collection. Boots I believe every girl needs in her wardrobe this summer to tie all outfits together. Now I've had some of the shoes for a while so they won't be looking 100% fantastic but I'm expecting you to use your expert imagination to picture what they would have looked like when I bought them so starting us off is:

1. The wedged Sneaker
Lool, yes I know they're trainers to us Londoners but I'm an honorary american for this post so I shall refer to them as sneakers. I know these have  taken the world by storm lately, ranging from the ugly mould coloured ones to the jewelled ones so I thought why not grab myself a pair. Something about having the grace of walking in heels whilst having the sporty look really appeals to me. It's just the most stylish way to do casj! I got mine in a green, red and white pair from eBay for a really cheap price.

2. The Fake Timbs
Obviously, the fake part is optional, if you happen to be rocking real Timberlands that is great!! Lol, i actually do have a real pair but I saw this stylish pair from Asos and I snapped it up real quick. This is for when I wanna go for the Rough Masculine look so I pair it with Jeans and a T-shirt or even when I want to balance out a feminine outfit So I go for a shirt, skirt and throw on my Timbs.

3. The Knee Length Boots
This was my biggest indecisive purchase! Like I'm naturally indecisive but it must have taken me at least 5 days to decide whether or not to buy this
pair! The problem of making me look short and stocky again. It actually does do that in some outfits but when I throw them on with a pair of skinny Jeans, they not only look great but they also make me feel super sexy. The versatile black colour also makes it a win with any outfit. I snapped this up on sale at Boohoo.

Stay tuned for part 2 where I'll show you the rest of my boots collection!!
